Samsung seems to have managed to create a real hit with their Android mobile operating system as the Galaxy S II has reached over 6 million sold units. It really is quite an achievement for Samsung considering the fact that no less than a month ago, we were talking about the 3 million SGS II units that were sold and now we are witnessing the doubling of the digit sales. Keep in mind the fact that this excellent smartphone hasn’t yet arrived in the U.S. market – one of the most mature markets from the consumers’ point of view. Only in August will the model finally be able to make its entry into the U.S.
The whole world seems to love Samsung and their Galaxy S II. So why did the Galaxy S II sell so much and what are its main strengths? Well, an excellent marketing campaign would have been nothing if the phone wasn’t up to the challenge. And in this regard, the Galaxy S II didn’t disappoint anyone. Samsung Galaxy S II’s strengths are: the 4.3 inch SuperAMOLED  Plus screen resolution boasting a resolution of 480×800 pixels, the dual-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, the famous Gingerbread Android 2.3 operating system, 3G download speeds of up to 21 Mbps, the 8 Megapixel camera that shoots full HD – 1080p and the 1650 mAh battery. And all of this is packaged into a small and thin case of just 8.5 mm thick.
Samsung has done a great job with their Galaxy S II model and deserve congratulations. But is their future threatened? I think the answer is yes. The only smartphone that will try to steal Samsung’s no. 1 is the iPhone 5 from the Cupertino giant that will be officially unveiled in September 2011.
