If you are having a good time using the Safari, chances are you will
be surfing the internet inefficiently. For that reason, here are some
useful tips on how you can enhance your browsing experience on your iPad 2.
Keep the Bookmarks Bar in sight. The bookmark bar lets you to surf on your favorite websites more quickly. This bar only appears when a new tab is opened and then disappears once you enter a site. To make it stay visible, go to Settings on your Home screen, then select Safari and turn “Always Show Bookmarks Bar” on. You can add bookmarks by tapping the “+” sign to the left of the address bar, tapping “Add Bookmark” and then “Add to Bookmarks Bar.”
Place bookmarks on the Home screen. You can bookmark a website to your iPad 2 Home screen by surfing to the page. Tap the “+” sign and select “Add to Home Screen.” The webclip is added to your Home screen and it will automatically direct you to the page you that you have bookmarked. Webclips are supported up by iTunes, but cannot be synced by either iTunes or MobileMe.
Synchronize Safari bookmarks. If you are using either Safari or Internet Explorer on your computer, you can synchronize your iPad´s Safari bookmarks with the ones on your computer via iTunes or MobileMe. Simply connect your iPad 2 to your computer and select the iPad2 in the sidebar of iTunes. Click on the Info tab, scroll down to the Others section, tap “Sync Safari bookmarks” and then click “Apply”. Bookmarks are synced from your computer to your iPad and vice versa. If you are a MobileMe subscriber, go to Settings, select your MobileMe account, and tap “Bookmarks.”
Change the browser. If you’re not contented with what Mobile Safari has to offer, there are other browsers that are compatible with the iPad 2, such as the Atomic Browser and Terra Browser, which are similar to those that you are used on your desktop computer.
Browse offline content. You can´t stay online all the time, but you can still browse on your favorite websites offline using an application such as Offline Pages or Instapaper Pro.
Offline Pages allows you to save all kinds of website content, including the page formatting, images, PDF and Word documents and secure HTTP for offline reading by tapping a button, the application bookmarklet, at the top of your screen while you’re surfing offline. It also enables you to share links with other applications such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instapaper.
Instapaper, on the other hand, minimizes on bandwidth and download time by saving only the important text and inline images found on the web page. The page is transformed into something like a newspaper page. This avoids the distraction of ads and sidebars. Instapaper interacts with various apps as well, including Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader, NetNewsWire, and Evernote Safari. Instapaper 3.0 also lets you to “Like” an article and browse through a list of items that your friends have liked lately.
