The 2011 Google I/O event was very interesting and a lot of
interesting announcements were made. Now movie lovers will definitely
appreciate Google’s latest Android app. Launched at Google I/O in May,
Google Video is an online movie rental service. Since May, we discovered
at the Google I/O, the search engine giant would prepare its own
application so that you will be able to rent and watch movies. This app
was destined to compete with Netflix and Blockbuster and after a quiet
couple of weeks in which we didn’t hear anything about this software…
fresh news suddenly appeared out of nowhere! How exciting, right?
The application made a brief appearance in the Android Market but then it disappeared as Google withdraw it in a timely manner. However, some users were quite fast so they downloaded the software on their phones. They weren’t so glad in the end though as the app seems to have some problems. Thus, we can certainly expect the finalized version of this app to arrive into our Android devices in a few weeks’ time.
In spite of this, the short time period in which the app could be downloaded allowed those lucky users to experience the interface of Google Video. The interface of Google Video is reminiscent of the Youtube app found on the Android terminals and looks very user-friendly and quite responsive, according to those that had a chance to test the software.
There are more good news though! One of the users shared that he has tested the Google Video app on an Acer Iconia A500 tablet. The tablet runs on Honeycomb 3.1 and it seems that the application runs smoothly on this device. Excellent piece of news but remember to take them with a pinch of salt. Time will tell!
