We recently talked about Apple’s intentions to break the established
relationship with Samsung in terms of cooperation for the production of
iDevice but it seems like the relationship between these two companies
are still cordial, at least regarding the manufacturing of iDevices.
Surprise, surprise! Apparently, the new iPad 2 models delivered by Apple
contain new display drivers for its screen and the surprise lies in the
fact that these drivers come from Samsung and not the usual LG. Until
recently, all of the iPad 2 tablets were supplied with LG drivers but
now Apple has shaken things up a little and turned to Samsung, although
these two companies have numerous lawsuits filed in the American courts.
But business is business, right?
In my opinion, Apple didn’t changed what it should have. Almost all
of the iPad 2 tablets have problems with backlight bleeding and some of
them reclaim problems with the color’s screen. As a result, Apple should
have changed the touch panel suppliers and not the drivers’ providers
for them. I guess that Apple wants either to reduce its dependence on LG
or strengthen its partnership with Samsung.
Otherwise I fail to see why they would want to change the drivers for
their screens since no one complained about their poor functionality.
At the end of the day, Apple wages wars in courts and, at the same time,
is working with Samsung to produce iDevices but at some point the
relationship between the two companies could “permanently break.”
Some are speculating that Apple changed their display driver in order
to accommodate the release of a better iPad that would boast a higher
resolution. We’re curious to find out about the future outcome of this
dangerous game played by Apple and Samsung. There are bound to be some
consequences, isn’t it? What do you think?
