Verizon’s LG Optimus Vu captured in pictures, plans to take on Galaxy Note on AT&T and T-Mobile

Jumping on the humongous phone-slash-mini tablet bandwagon a bit late, it’s been expected for quite some time “that Verizon will release its variant of LG Optimus Vu”. We last heard about the 5-inch device when it made a stop at FCC, now some pictorial evidence of the device in the wild has emerged.
Android Police has attained pictures of the LG Optimus Vu that dons the Verizon logo in the front and 4G LTE mark on the back. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Optimus Vu does seem giant-like. If the pictures are legit, it’s a sure sign that Verizon customers will soon have a phablet to call its own pretty soon.
From the pictures, it looks like Verizon’s LG Optimus Vu is equipped with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich – making it but a notch away from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It’s certainly an improvement over the Android 2.3 Gingerbread that the original model shipped with. If LG hasn’t changed the specs too much for the U.S. release, it will ship with a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and 8MP rear camera.
Despite the abundance of pictures, there’s still no word yet on when Verizon will unleash the LG Optimus Vu. The price tag of the phablet is also still unknown at this point, but we expect to hear more from Big Red in the coming weeks.
If you’re not settled yet on the Galaxy Note on AT&T and T-Mobile, here’s your chance to step outside the box and give the 4:3 HD IPS display of the LG Optimus Vu a try.
