Mobile phones that comes with Intel’s chipset are given the Intel Atom Z2460 processor that only has a single core but clocked fairly at 1.6GHz. While it is the tendency of everyone to immediately compare the specs with other top-notch processors used for other premium mobile devices, x86-based smart phones are not really meant for such comparison. Rather, everybody should look at them with curiosity knowing there are only very few of them that sport a different architecture. The performance of a smart phone couldn’t be measured by number of cores its processor possesses or by the amount of RAM the manufacturer provided, rather it is in the stability and harmony of the both hardware and software that you will be able to attain the real measurement of its performance.
Intel Atom Z2460 supports 4G HSPA+ so with Orange San Diego smart phone, you can have 21Mbps download speed at max. It’s not really bad if you get as much as long as you are not one of the people obsessed with 4G LTE connectivity. Its 4.03 inches display offers up to 1024 x 600 pixels resolution and it was given 8-megapixel camera capable of burst mode and recording 1080p Full HD videos. These features can already fill your quench for great things from this handset but Intel didn’t want to stop so it added yet another technology for voice; the Mobile High-Definition Voice technology provides crystal clear audio quality for calls.
In a bid to dramatically attract attention from people and tech enthusiasts, both Orange and Intel become more aggressive when it comes to the price of this handset. Orange San Diego will be marketed for just £199.99 for cash or £15.50 on a 2-year contract. There is no information as to when it would be marketed outside the UK market but we are hoping it would somehow reach the American shores in the second week of June for us to be able to see it in action.
