Amazon is working on two tablet Pcs an open secret it is. At least one of them is expected to be released this fall. It was anticipated to be the loss leader in terms of price and push Apple out of the market. This is likely to be a 7-inch model. The manufacturer of the tablet Foxconn said that they were also working on the 10.1″ version of the tablet as well but the possibilities are that this larger tablet will not hit the market until the first quarter of 2012.
The codename for this device according to our sources is Hollywood. The tablet is likely to include the Kal-El quad core chip from NVIDIA. This actually might turn out to be a setback as ASUS is about to use the same chip in their follow up to the extremely successful Transformer this fall. The tablet is expected to come out with $249 price tag and its sales are expected to hit the sky. You get plenty out of it such as videos, music, book distribution and an app store. Pricing is the key however.
A report from Digitimes said that, the work order for the seven inch was sent to Quanta and this is likely to make Quanta richer by $3.5 billion in the year 2011 alone. Jeff Bezos, the Amazon CEO did not deny that his company was planning to make a tablet. In fact, he asked readers to stay tuned for the news about this device. The tablet is expected to supplement the Kindle e-reader and eventually replace it. Amazon is aware that they are looking for dedicated reading device, added the Amazon CEO.
