While the rest of the world is waiting for the official release of the CyanogenMod 9, these brilliant folks at XDA Developers have managed to release an early build for the Samsung Galaxy Note.
It may take a couple more weeks before the CyanogenMod 9’s official release. But you need not to wait for long. In fact, the CyanogenMod Team did state their plans to release the said ROM sometime around January/February 2012. Nevertheless, the first ICS based CM9 Port for the Galaxy Note can serve as an early treat for everyone who wants to taste the new features of Google’s latest Android platform.
Like any other early builds, expect that this one’s going to have a lot of glitches and errors. Considering the fact that this specific build for the Galaxy Note is currently undergoing some heavy development, you should be aware that flashing this ROM may cause permanent damage to your phone. Also, this particular ROM may increase your binary counter and there’s a great possibility that you will void your phone’s warranty. Still, if you are courageous enough to face the consequences of your risky actions, you can download the early CyanogenMod 9 build for the Samsung Galaxy Note at this link.
On the lighter side, you will be able to use your Galaxy Note’s famous S-Pen as you get to doodle on your handset’s large 5.3 inch touch screen. Moreover, the build will upgrade your phone’s firmware to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and you won’t have any problems with your Wi-Fi, 3G, GPRS, EDGE Data and Calling. Sadly, you won’t be able to use your phone’s Bluetooth and you cannot set your handset to MTP Mode. Thus, you will be left with no other choice but to push/pull your files via adb. On the other hand, Samsung did announce its plan to upgrade the Galaxy Note’s firmware to Android ICS. But you’ll have to be a bit more patient.
