Features
The Motorola i412 comes with the standard small format flip design
for phone. There is a small mono-chrome display on the top which shows
signal strength, battery level, and a number of icons for modes. There
are two dedicated buttons for, mute function and quick access to call
logs. The cover also has a simple VGA camera towards the hinge. Opening
the phone reveals the functional 1.79 inch display, and the navigation
and keypad on the other half. The interface is somewhat customizable,
allowing the change of wall paper, text size, and display theme and
backlight timer. The clock format and menu view can be changed also. The
keypad and navigation keys are well spaced and raised to allow easy
messaging or dialing by touch only. The address book stores up to 600
entries, with each entry supporting multiple phone numbers, email
address, IP address and walkie-talkie number and organize them in
groups. Each entry can be assigned one of 20 polyphonic tones
Verdict
The Motorola i410 fulfills its role as a basic phone with text and
image messaging capabilities. You can stay in touch with your contacts
through the Push-To-Talk feature that acts like a walki-talki, however
this is only available over the Boost Mobile network. The VGA camera
leaves a lot to be desired in this age of Megapixel competitors, and
there are better displays out in the market. The phone menu navigation
is complex and perhaps not well thought through. If you are looking for a
really affordable basic phone, and your primary interest is only making
calls and messaging, then this is a good budget phone to look at as an
option.
Price
The i410 from Motorola is available for $69.99 without commitments.
Boost Mobile offers simple budget contracts that are designed for those
who have not decided to join the smartphone evolution.
