Two days ago, Apple released the IOS 4.3.4 in order to block the
exploit used by comex in the jailbreak solution jailbreakme.com 3.0.
Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t just blocked an exploit in the IOS 4.3.4
because the untethered exploit of i0n1c does not work anymore and it
seems that Apple has changed some aspects of the IOS 4.3.4 that hinder
the implementation of future jailbreak solutions. These changes were
initially discovered through the inability to jailbreak using redsn0w,
aspect which is later corrected by the launch of the redsn0w 0.9.8 beta
3. In spite of all of this, Apple’s actions remain.
i0n1c announced today that Apple has blocked in the IOS 4.3.4 some vulnerabilities that were used in jailbreak solutions since IOS 4.1 and those who create jailbreak solutions will have to find alternative ways to use their vulnerabilities. Apple is constantly subjected to pressures by the application developers and mobile operators who want that piracy and unlocking to disappear along with the jailbreak. Fortunately, you should be happy to find out that Apple fails to block all of the vulnerabilities in the system so don’t worry as we will have jailbreak solutions in the future as well. There’s a catch though. The iOS 5 could persuade many people to no longer use these jailbreaking solutions.
In the end, let me remind you something that was mentioned yesterday: i0n1c clearly stated that an untethered jailbreak solution will not be released in the near future. Since the IOS 5 will be released in about two months, it is unlikely that any developer to risk an untethered jailbreak exploit for an iOS version that will not be updated. As a result untethered jailbreak will only be available in the iOS 5. So what is the conclusion? For the moment, remain on the iOS 4.3.3?
