Instagram, the ever-popular photo app for iOS devices, will soon be made available to Android. The thing is we’ve already told you about this. Still, it would be better if the folks behind this app would give an official word of confirmation. Back at that time, all we knew was that the app will be coming to Android but we couldn’t even give an exact date for its most-awaited launch.
Anyways, we still do not know when this app will go live at the revamped Android Market that we now call as the Google Play Store. But what we do know is that its upcoming launch has officially been announced by its founders, Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom, at the SXSW 2012. Systrom even added that the Instagram app for Android will be much better than the iOS app and it will definitely be one of the best Android apps that we’ll ever see. Come to think of it, wouldn’t those with Instagram for iPhone be jealous? Knowing that the Instagram that they have long been using to filter their photos would be much better on Android than on iOS, we do think that’s a bit unfair to those who made the app popular.
With all honestly, we do love Android and we would love to have Instagram for Android but we also want to be fair to those with iPads and iPhones. And besides, it’s not just Instagram that can provide us with cool photo filters. Right now, there are lots of Android apps that can allow us to edit our photos. Take for example, there’s the Pixlr-o-Matic from Autodesk, Inc. that’s also been recognized as last year’s Best Photo Editing App for Android. Just like Instagram, Pixlr-o-Matic packs a variety of photo filters that will automatically transform your images to vintage-looking photos.
One cool thing about Instagram is that it has its own social network. Through this, Instagram users will be able to share their photos to the community. But unlike Flickr, Facebook or Twitter, Instagram is a phone-based social networking platform. Even so, its community is constantly growing and we bet that it will grow even more once the Instagram for Android app will be officially launched at the Google Play Store.
