The U.S. FCC Authority recently tested a terminal that is expected
for quite some time: the HTC Puccini tablet. Although the Taiwanese
company seemed to be satisfied with the Flyer 7-inch model, it seems
they want to win a segment of the Honeycomb market, so they created this
10-inch diagonal model. Keep in mind the fact that the 10 inch size is
not officially confirmed. So how did it come to this?
We do not know yet whether the terminal will have such a screen, but the inference about the size of the tablet belongs to the guys from Engadget. They compared the size of the SIM slot with the diagonal and reached the magic number: 10 inches. In addition, the tablet codenamed PG09410 seems to use the LTE connectivity standard, reaching the offer of the U.S. operator AT&T.
Its membership to the operator that launched the iPhone in the U.S. is indicated by the support for a series of frequencies specific for this company. Unfortunately, the FCC has not tested the compatibility of the HTC Puccini tablet with European networks, so we do not have any information about the arrival of this terminal on the old continent. One thing is certain though: the rumors about a possible 3D camera on this model were unfounded, so we will be probably satisfied with just a camera that is able of 720p capture.
Other specs of the HTC Puccini include the Honeycomb operating system as well as1900 MHz frequencies, GSM 850 plus 3G WCDMA 850 and 1900 MHz bands. Some time ago June was rumored as a possible launch time frame but it has passed. As there isn’t any official confirmation on a release date…we can only speculate about the arrival of the Puccini tablet in the United States. Maybe next month?
