At least these are the rumors! As everybody knows, Amazon struck gold
with Kindle and recent statistics reveal that in a mature market like
the U.S., the e-readers still sell better than tablets. Now, it seems
that the famous online store is preparing to unveil two new tablets. And
here are the names under which they are developed: Coyote – a dual-core
tablet and Hollywood – a quad-core Kal-El tablet.
In terms of performance and OS, it is no surprise that both come with an Nvidia processor and the fact that the Android operating system has been chosen. The quad-core tablet is suspected to arrive in 2012 and it will run Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0. The tablet implementing the Tegra 2 processor will start to be delivered in September 2011 and originally, the Amazon orders counted two million units. According to industry sources, they were limited to 1.5 million. Why, you might ask? The reason seems to have been given by the success of iPad 2 which generates big pressure on the component manufacturers from Asia. Wintek, HannStar Display and J Touch are Taiwan-based touch panel makers and touch panel orders by Amazon in the second half of the year are eyed by them.
The question is: will you get one? The future certainly looks bright as we will witness a fierce battle for supremacy between developers. It will be very interesting especially since the second half of the year promises to be busy with many tablets being launched – at least 10 models are to be presented to the public and going into shops. Who benefits the most from this invigorating situation? The consumers will be delighted as prices should drop down faster! Stay tuned for the latest news and updates surrounding Amazon’s hot new tablets!
