Transit Navigation beta by Google Maps 5.7 for Android
Firstly, GPS turn-by-turn (or in this case, stop-by-stop) navigation is brought to public transit systems in more than over 400 cities across the world with the addition of Transit Navigation (Beta). Your current location will be determined as it will be able to tap into your GPS module and when it’s time to make a transfer or get off, it will alert you. Holstering your mobile altogether or switching to another app is done with relative ease even after you started your trip with Transit Navigation. You will be alerted when the next stop is due to come through a pop up in the notification bar. There’s also a vibration feature. Apparently, things are cached before you head into the tunnel. It isn’t specified by Google though.
The improved directional services for walking and driving as well as a streamlined direction acquisition system within a Place page are new features that will certainly delight every user. The search suggestions have also gotten an upgrade; all thanks to the auto-insertion of places you got directions to into Places and the addition of category icons. Another very cool feature is the possibility of downloading maps for offline usage. For the Google Maps enthusiasts, keep your racing hearts still!
